Spot early problem signs with a NHS funded Health Check
The NHS Health Check is an NHS-funded health check-up for people aged 40-74 years old.
It is designed to spot the early signs of health problems such as stroke, kidney disease, type 2 diabetes, heart disease and dementia and provide you with the advice and support you need to stay healthy for longer.
Many of these diseases do not display many symptoms, which is why an NHS Health Check is so important.

When you visit the pharmacy for your NHS Health Check you will first be taken to a private consultation room within the pharmacy.
Then the pharmacist will ask you general questions about your health and the health of close family members. This is to help identify whether you could have inherited any health problems.
Once we have done this, we will carry out a series of health checks. We will take your blood pressure, measure your height and weight and take a small blood sample from your finger (via a pinprick test).
The pharmacist will discuss the results of your tests with you as well as provide you with personalised information on how you can improve your health with simple lifestyle changes. You will also be given a copy of your test results to take home with you.
You can ask questions or ask for further information on a range of healthy living topics such as losing weight, quitting smoking and reducing your high blood pressure.
Your test result will help show whether you are at an increased risk of developing certain health conditions. If this is the case, we may invite you back for a follow-up health check or refer you to your GP or other health professional.
The NHS Health Check is for people who are aged between 40-74 years old who have not had a stroke and do not have a pre-existing health condition.
